On Being Unfinished
A thought to sit with: the discomfort of becoming is not a malfunction.

Pull up in your car before walking into the office and think about what you are waiting for. You tell yourself that once the next fundraising cycle is secure, once the key staff member is hired, or once the internal systems are finally dialed in, you will finally feel like the real, settled version of yourself. You believe you will lead from a place of calm, finished authority. But that day is not late; it is not coming at all. You have absorbed the quiet fiction that a finished leader exists, treating your current state as a flawed draft on the way to a final version. In reality, the platform never finishes setting. The questions you thought you would have resolved by now have simply traded themselves for new ones.
